September Update

This last weekend we had my uncle roger and businss partner Loren Waldapfel come in town for the football game versus Maryland. Needless to say, the Mountaineers looked very good in a 31-17 win. We started the morning with baseball practice, the went over to the football stadium where we went down to the field before the game and watch the players warm-up. It was a very fun weekend. And we were able to convert a couple more people into becoming MOUNTAINEERS!

Reese has started a small group with some college students through our church. There are a few volleyball players on the team as well. So she is excited to get to spend some time with them over this fall.

On the baseball front, we are in the 4th week of official practices. We have intrasquad games almost everyday. The guys are getting alot of practice in and we are all spending alot of time on the baseball field before the weather turns on us in a couple months. But we are all doing great! Thanks for your thoughts and prayers!

First College Gameday!

This last weekend was our first college game day here at WVU. It sure is exciting around here on game days! The whole town gets behind their team. Tailgating happens all around the stadium and I can see why it would be alot of fun to be a student here. For this mom of 2, it was a little wild for my little ones, but thankfully our seats were on the Alumni side of the stadium. I decked out my kiddos in gold and blue and Cade loved the game. Caelyn loved the band and she was dancing up a storm. I can see her following in her mama's footsteps and being on her college dance team someday.
The Mountaineers laid a whoppin on the other team and we left early to get home and catch the Oregon State game on ESPN. The OSU game was exciting and the boys played well, but couldn't overcome the TCU Horned Frogs. OSU lost 30-21. It was a sad ending to a great day, but don't worry there are more games to come! On the baseball front, things are heating up. WVU hosts a big JC tourney this weekend and first day of official practice starts Tuesday. Chris is definitely excited to finally get some real baseball action going. He has been stuck in NCAA meetings for the last 2 weeks and he's dying to get some dirt in his cleats and some use out of his new Nike fungo! Yes, he's officially a coach, he has his own fungo bat!

The House

Here are some pictures of our new home. God has completely met our needs with this home. It was the first and only house we saw here in Morgantown and it is wonderful. It's less then a mile from the athletics facilities. My kids get their own rooms and there is a huge fenced in yard for my furry kids. Our God is good!

Our God is faithful

2 Thessalonians 3:3 "But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one."

This is a promise that I have been clinging to over the past few days. We have been on a roller coaster of emotions over the past 10 days and I am just clinging to the promise that my Lord is faithful, AND he will strengthen me AND protect me and my family. In the last 3 days, God has revealed situations that are not the best for our family and he has provided immediate solutions for those problems. My dear friend keeps reminding me that when we are called to a place where God wants to use us, there will be "bumps" along the way. Sometimes these "bumps" have felt like mountains and I have forgotten that it is not my job to move those mountains, it's God's.

Lord, would you remind me of your faithfulness daily? Will you help me to be receptive to your voice and your will everyday? Please Lord may your will be done and not mine. Thank you Jesus- Love, Reese :O)

First Week at WVU

Well it is almost the end of the first week here at WVU. Yesterday I was introduced to the whole athletic department as the new assistant coach for the baseball program. We then sat through a brief meeting with the new Athletic Director and President of WVU.  I met the head football coach, Bill Stewart. Turns out he is a very big baseball fan, devoted follower of Christ, and overall a very nice guy. The remainder of the day consisted of weights, conditioning, and a brief team meeting. The weather has been very cool (in the mid 70s) with slight rain at times.  I am getting ready to attend another team meeting here shortly, and will be up again in the morning for another day of weights and conditioning. However, this time around I am not the one being put through hell; I just get to sit back and encourage the guys! Although when I was in college I got used to 6am weights, I never liked it, so it is nice to know those days are over!

Reese and I finished unloading the truck today. Our equipment manager came to help move some of the furniture. Even Cade helped unload! But we still have to unpack everything from their boxes into their new places for the time being. We will upload some of the pictures from the move, and our new house shortly. Love you all!

We made it!!

Well after 4 and a half crucial days of driving we finally made it to Morgantown, WV. Thanks to the help of Forest, Andrea, Charlie, Brandon, Melissa, Charisse, and Griffin, we were able to pack up the truck on Wednesday night and finish loading up on Thursday morning. Reese started driving the truck late morning, while I stayed behind to finish a few things. I then caught up to her at the end of the night in Elko, Nevada where we stayed for the night. The next 3 days were 12-14 hour long driving days, making stops for the night in Sidney, Nebraska; Foristell, Missouri; and Cambridge, Ohio. We then drove the remaining 2 hours yesterday and drove in to Morgantown. We had lunch, and looked at a house to rent. I then went on to attend our first team meeting. During the 2 hour meeting I was introduced as the new assistant coach, and met a few of the players afterward. When the head coach started talking about the press and how we represent the state of West Virginia as well as our sponsor NIKE, I realized how I had completely forgot about what it was like to be apart of a major university sports program, and how much I am going to enjoy this new journey.

So after discussions with Reese about the house we had looked at, we felt this house fit what we need, and decided to take it. The landlord allowed us to start moving in as well, and we spent the night last night in our new living room. Today will be a funfilled day of unloading the truck. But things will start to pick up at the university, as I will be back at the baseball field later today, going to 6:30am weights, as well as attending a meeting with the whole athletics department tomorow morning. I will keep you all posted. And thank you very much for those of you who helped us move. We cut our arrival time pretty close, and could not have done it without you!

Welcome to our Blog

We thought it would be fun to create a blog page for everyone, so that you could follow Team Campos' endeavors in the world of College Baseball. Obviously with it being such short notice, many people will not know that we left our our house, construction job, and friends/family in Modesto, Ca and set for Morgantown, WV until we are gone. We will be leaving on Aug. 19th and posting our adventure into the wilderness (literally). As of right now we still have not even found a home to rent yet, so there are many things up in the air. However, we will keep you posted as to what is going on, and we plan to keep posting as we get settled and keep everyone informed with our settling in West Virginia, and where ever else God calls us to be in the next coming years. Please keep us in your prayers as this will be a huge move for us, the little ones, and the dogs.
